As of 2024, there are five international schools in Sabah and Labuan, and these schools prepare students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). The schools are listed in alphabetical order below.

 

Charis International School

1. Charis International School (CIS)

Established in 2014, Charis International School offers the British Curriculum leading up to the IGCSE examinations. The school accepts students at preschool, primary and secondary levels. This school is the first international school registered in Tawau. CIS also goes all out to involve students in extracurricular activities, aiming to broaden their perspectives on life and society. The teaching methodologies adopted by CIS not only foster confidence but also cultivate critical thinking skills among students. 2. Jesselton International School (JIS)

Since its inception in 2018, JIS has been committed to offering international education options in Kota Kinabalu, with a clear mission to become Sabah's most innovative and dependable educational group. The school follows the British curriculum, catering to children aged 4 to 18, from kindergarten to Year 11 for IGCSE, and through to Year 12 and Year 13 for A Level.

 

Kinabalu International School

3. Kinabalu International School (KIS)

Located in Kota Kinabalu, Kinabalu International School was established in 1973 and is the oldest international school in Sabah. Students at Kinabalu International School follow the British and Cambridge Curricula. The IGCSE and A Level examinations are offered at secondary and pre-university levels respectively. The institution takes pride in its commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals, focusing on the intellectual, physical, creative, social, and moral aspects of each student's development. Labuan International School

4. Labuan International School

Labuan International School is the only international school located in the Federal Territory of Labuan. The school was established in 1996 and offers the Malaysian and British Curricula. Labuan International School accepts students at preschool, primary and secondary levels. With a track record of over two decades marked by remarkable achievements, LIS remains steadfast in its mission to foster the holistic development of the Mind, Body, and Soul of the children, moulding them into well-balanced individuals.

 

5. Vision International School

Nestled in the vibrant township of Bandar Sri Indah, on Jalan Apas, Tawau, Vision School is the hub of dynamic education in that area. Only 10 miles east of Tawau town, the campus offers a serene yet stimulating environment that provides opportunities for an engaging learning journey for each student. As a church-owned private school following the Malaysian National Curriculum, Vision School guides students from Primary 1 to Form 5, focusing on the UPSR, PT3 and SPM examinations. The school also uses the Cambridge International Curriculum, tailoring its approach to Key Stages 3 and 4 during the Secondary School years. The journey concludes with the IGCSE at Year 10.
