Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar student, Winnie Ng, recently competed in the EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open 2018 where 105 professional ladies and 15 top amateurs took part. Winnie made newspaper headlines when she was tied for 1st place in round 1 and finished in tied 16th place overall. She was the joint best Malaysian in the competition alongside professional Aretha Pan.
Speaking about the competition Winnie said “I knew I was playing well, but I tried not to think about it, but then I had a bit of a slump and I got really nervous. I told myself to calm down, and that I am an amateur so it is about doing the best you can, and not so much about the placing, and I am glad I finished well.”
Winnie also qualified into the World Women Golf Rolex Rankings at number 807. There are only 1259 professionals who have qualified into this Rolex Rankings and Winnie is the only amateur.
