On Friday 26th February 2016, Marlborough College Malaysia was honoured to host Her Excellency, Vicki Treadell, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia as part of the College’s annual University and Careers Fair for Sixth Form pupils. Her Excellency gave the opening address and delivered an inspiring talk to Marlborough College Malaysia pupils, drawing upon what it takes to succeed in their education, their future careers and their role as global citizens. HE Vicki Treadell advised our pupils that a combination of good teamwork, passion, initiative, being kind and considerate towards one another, and not being afraid to speak to people who are an inspiration, will lead to success in life. The University and Careers Fair at Marlborough is an opportunity for pupils to meet with representatives from leading UK universities and gain valuable advice on how to navigate the application process. Pupils also had a wide diversity of professionals to speak to, from health professionals to financial gurus and from TV specialists to legal experts. Frank Hardee, Head of University and Career Guidance says, ‘Events like these act as the starting point in the post-school journey’. In her role as the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, Her Excellency understands the importance of a strong relationship between Malaysia and the UK and this underlies the GREAT Year of Education Campaign which aims to promote the development and strength of the Great British Education in Malaysia. Marlborough College in Wiltshire, UK, is renowned for educating and inspiring young individuals and producing well-educated, multi-lingual and multi-cultural young global citizens. The College opened a campus in Malaysia in 2012 set in a beautiful 90 acre site which offers a well-rounded education to children aged 4 to 18, with first class boarding facilities and a superb co-curricular programme. Much like the culture of Malaysia, Marlborough College Malaysia is a community where diversity is celebrated. The College aims to help pupils become compassionate, to form companionships and to be able to converse in order to contribute to the international community in a positive way. Malaysia is fast becoming an educational hub for British education and Marlborough College Malaysia is committed to enhancing links between the two countries. Both Prime Minister David Cameron and Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak have agreed that education has played an important role in cooperation between the UK and Malaysia.
