Raffles American School's Grade 2 students created a market place to develop a deeper understanding of economy. Goods and services were on sale to Grade 1 students who had earned RAS Market Money performing various jobs during their economics unit. The RAS Bank was available for withdrawals and change. Entrepreneurship potential was evident as the Grade 2 students created a good or service within their passion or field of interest.
Grade 1 students followed up the Grade 2 marketplace with a Grade 1 Store offering Goods for sale. Students were able to experience economics in an authentic setting and develop a deeper understanding of economy. Grade 2 students earned RAS Market Money performing various jobs during their economics unit in order to shop at the Grade 1 store. They also avoided being fined for inappropriate choices! Grade 2 held the first marketplace with both goods and services to provide a model to the Grade 1 students.
