List of International Schools in Petaling Jaya

Petaling Jaya is one of the areas in Selangor. It is one of the districts that played an integral role in the development and commercialisation of Selangor. The history of Petaling Jaya can be traced back to the 1950s, where it was built as a small satellite town to support the rapidly growing Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. Petaling Jaya experienced a boom in development upon the completion of the first phase of the Federal Highway in 1957, allowing Petaling Jaya to be accessed easily by residents in Kuala Lumpur. The district has since expanded exponentially as a residential, economic and commercial hub. Bandar Sunway, Bandar Utama, Kota Damansara, Damansara Perdana, Bandar Sri Damansara and Damansara Impian along with numerous townships named ‘Seksyen’ fall under Petaling Jaya.

Schools in Petaling Jaya are made up of government or public schools, private schools and international schools. The language of instruction in public schools is the official language of Malaysia, Malay. Mandarin and Tamil are the languages of instruction at vernacular schools. On the other hand, international schools in Malaysia use English as its language of instruction. Public and private schools cater to students in primary and secondary levels. Majority of international schools cater to primary and secondary levels. Several international schools have preschool and pre-university levels.
